Project Aims

The Care and Wellbeing Project has been running since 2013.  The overall aims of the project are :

  • To enhance wellbeing and resilience of people living in Stanley and the surrounding rural area through encouraging people to support one another.
  • To promote goodwill, neighbourliness and reciprocity through the establishment of a Time Bank creating an opportunity for all age groups to devote some of their spare time to the good of the local community.
  • To reach out and provide befriending and mentoring support to people who are challenged by illness, disability or crisis and those at risk of social isolation, including individuals whose lifestyle or conduct gives rise to problems for themselves or others.

There are several strands to the project including:

  • Stanley Time Bank
  • Knit and Natter Group
  • Stanley Befriending Service
  • Stanley Lunch Club
  • Winter Watch,
  • and the project facilitates other projects in the village which meet with its aims.
