West Stormont Historical Society
Sixteen Local History Meetings
Local history is a far from forgotten subject in this part of Perthshire.
Our local history group – West Stormont Historical Society – meets twice a month from mid September until mid May with no fewer than 16 meetings during this period. Usually the second Monday of the month is a discussion Open Evening and the fourth Monday a speaker meeting.
All our meetings are open to the public and you are most welcome to come along.
WEST STORMONT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Programme
Non Members are very welcome to join Open Evenings. £4 entrance includes refreshments.
NB. The conversational nature of Members Evenings allows space for anyone to raise issues of general
interest to the Society, before moving on to the topic under discussion.
Non members are welcome. If a particular topic interests you, feel free to drop in.
West Stormont Historical SocietyWe are interested in anything and everything to do with the history of our area – which includes the villages of Bankfoot, Luncarty, Murthly, Pitcairngreen and Stanley. We hold regular meetings in the villages of the area – usually on Monday evenings. Some of our meetings consist of talks by experts in their field. On other, more informal, occasions we get together to share ideas and recount personal experiences. Our achievements to date include researching and publishing the tombstone inscriptions in local graveyards and holding exhibitions of local historical material. Our annual subscription rates are very modest. If you would like to join – or simply to know more about us – please contact our Membership Secretary, John Andrews on :-01738 827275 or at johndandrews44@gmail.com
